Wordy Wednesday

We're finally getting caught back up!  And we were horrified to see we missed something very important.  Back on the 12th, the Lounge Kats gave us our very first award!  It's the "One Lovely Blog Award", and we are so honored that this great group of kitties chose to pass this award on to us!
We'd like to pass it on to three blogs that are pretty new to us, and maybe our friends haven't met them either!
  •  Chester and Mickey - These cats are from Oklahoma, too!  And they have a sister named Sooner who we feel doesn't get enough blog time!  ;)
  • Tucker Tells All - Tucker is a very nice dog who lives in a blended family - dogs and cats living in harmony!
  • Mom and Me, Kassey - Kassey is a gorgeous senior cat living in Alabama with her mom.  We love senior cats!
Now, we'll show you a few photos from my mom's little trip.  As we've said, her mom lives in a teeny tiny town in west Texas - west of Lubbock, very near the New Mexico border.

My mom saw snow!
Haha, we're just joshin'.  That's cotton!  The cotton is pulled off of its stalk and smashed into these things called modules (or that's what her mom calls them, so if that's not right, blame her!)

The modules are taken to the cotton gin to be, umm, ginned.

The gin is a hopping place!  Lots of cotton is left on the stalks and along the road and everywhere.  My mom thinks that they should make prisoners come along and pick all of the remaining cotton, but no one else seems to think that's a brilliant idea.  Sorry, Mom.
The cotton makes her all sneezy and sniffly.  But she's glad for the stuffed up nose, because then she can't smell these guys.

(If she was a better photographer, you'd be able to tell that these are cows.)

Now we take you to sights from I-40 between Amarillo, Texas and Oklahoma City.  This is a big cross.  We don't know why it's here, but it is.
This rest stop is just a few miles after you enter Oklahoma.  It probably wouldn't be this nice, but it's so close to Texas that they probably tried harder.  My mom said it's way cleaner and nicer than any restrooms she's been in along this route.  So, skip the Love's and go to the rest stop!

It even has a dog park!
She has some pictures from the rest stop on the west bound side, but they didn't turn out.  That one actually overlooks this little canyon and was quite scenic.

Well, that's our quick tour of one little part of the world.  It's much different than the rest of Texas!

  5. Concats on your first award! Very cool pics! Up here all you see are corn stalks and down your way cotton stalks. Much prettier! Glad your mom is back home where she belongs.

  6. Furry nice award!
Mom said she noticed lots of cotton growing on our trip up to Atlanta (I-75) last month. They were picking it too. Mom told me that her Daddy used to have to go out in the fields and pick cotton. Great pictures we felt like we had been on the trip with you.

  7. The stockyard photo reminded my mom of something she did to two cats before us when they were moving to NM about a hundred years ago. She rolled down the windows and I guess the both of them got all wound up with the "fragrance"!

I'm glad she's never done that to me.

  12. That was really a nice travelogue, says the Human, who was only in Texas one time and that was only in an airport so it doesn't count. She should get out more, you know?

Me, I lost interest when there were no kitties in it! More Fuzzy and Zoe!

  16. Congratulations beautiful Ladies!
That was a very interesting trip your Mommy took... I liked the cotton piles or modules or whatever they call them ;o) Don't you wish you could just jump and play on top of them? That would be sooo cool...

Have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    Smooches,
    Neeko ♥

  17. Thanks for the award girls, we'll try to get it up soon. As for Sooner, she gets to air her opinions on Petey's blog because she's his girl. Humom says there isn't much to see in that part of west Texas except Caprock Canyon and Palo Duro Canyon; otherwise it's flat and boring.
