Another Crappy Weekend
This sucks. We're being abandoned yet again. Our mom is running off to watch a bunch of guys with long hair and makeup make a lot of noise for three entire days. I was trying to find a black wig and some face paint for orange girl cats so she would stay home with me instead, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I mean, really, she's going to see a band named Motley Crue - really? Really? Their name alone suggests that they are nothing but trouble. And three days of that junk? Oh sure, she's only staying an hour away (camping, since she'll be boozing it up partaking of the happy juice that you shouldn't drive after drinking), and sure, she usually comes to check on us once or twice over the weekend (Fuzzy says this is the 4th year she's gone to this stupid thing). But she's 40 now - isn't that too old for these little shenanigans? Any buddies want to come and hang with us?
Pee Ess Word on the street (ok, from Fuzzy) is that I was almost 2 cats - 1 named Nikki and 1 named Sixx. Thank goodness Fuzzy talked her into just adopting me!

Storm watching
Update (9 PM Central) - We think the worst is over. We had the sirens going off and our mom made us get in our carriers (she tricked us with Fancy Feast - how rude!!). But nothing terrible happened to us, so we'll forgive her (maybe). Thank you again for your concern, thoughts, and purrs. We do know that some people in Oklahoma have lost their lives - this was a wicked storm system. We're very sad for the families who have lost loved ones and homes.
We've had a couple of messages from sweet friends worrying about us, so we thought we'd do a quick update right now and one later. The storms are not here yet - we're in the northeast corner, a little north of Tulsa. There sure have been some bad storms in Oklahoma City. We were watching the news and they had a storm chaser on in that area, and he was totally freaking out, saying he had never seen a tornado that big before (as it was happening). Our mom changed the channel to a station with calmer spotters! Thank you all for thinking about us!!! We love you all!

Toysday - Fail
See those toys? They've been in the exact same spot for 3 days. Our mom saw other cats having so much fun with them on other blogs, so she bought us some. We don't see the appeal.
On another fail note, our mom is just now getting the packages sent out from our contest. Unless she totally lets us down again, they SHOULD go out today. Mr. Puddy, we made her work really hard to get you things that they'll let you keep. If she failed at that, too, we don't know what we'll do. There are some of our favorite things in the packages, so we're very excited!!

Purrs and Prayers for Tornado Victims
We're watching the news now, and there has been some horrible weather just east of us. We are sending our purrs and prayers to everyone affected by this, especially those in Joplin, Missouri.

Thankful Thursday
Today I am thankful because I have a very good friend! Lookit what we got in the mail today!
King Punapippuri sent this to me! Well, perhaps his Aiti sent it to my mom... She mentioned this book to us a while back - the same day my mom was whining about how we neglect her when she is sick, blah blah blah. I'm ignoring the fact that the cat on the front looks more like Fuzzy than me.
It smells really good. Hop to it, Mom, and read me this book! I'm only 5, I can't read it to myself!
And speaking of gifts, we have made our donations to Marg's causes. King Punapippuri's Aiti sent her donation to the Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary, and our mom sent her donation to Alley Cats and Angels of North Carolina. We're having a bit of an issue sending our donations to Mr. Puddy's chosen charity, Ingrid's Haven. This amazing lady runs a one-woman show and in her words is "trying to stop the senseless killings of pound animals here in Au." Since she is doing this on her own, she does not have a PayPal account, as that would eat up some of the funds in bank fees. We are trying to figure out a way to get her the money, but if we end up with no options, she suggested another charity for us to donate to. Actually, she just suggested the other charity, not wanting us to spend time trying to get her the money. This has just sparked a bigger fire under our mom to try to figure out a way to make this happen. So Mr. Puddy, we're trying, we promise!
We're very ashamed of our mom, though, as she has not finished shopping for the prize packages. She had ordered a few items which have come in already, but she wanted to wait on the last items until she found out who the winners were. Apparently, when we set up our contest, she didn't have plans to abandon us the same weekend it ended. So, we do apologize for not having our gifts sent out yet.

The Results Are In!!
Before we announce our winners, we want to thank you all again for making this so fun! We had an astonishing 77 entries, and we don't know how any of you were able to choose one to vote for! As we said, there will be 2 winners: one who gets the most votes and one who is chosen randomly using random.org. We had assigned everyone a number when we were putting the slideshow together, so that is the numbering system we used.
Winner #1 is Mr. Puddy! He got the most votes for the best tummy!
We went to random.org and set our number range from 1 to 77. It chose #6, so congratulations to Tabatha from Marg's Pets!
So, we need our two winners to please contact our mom at janaras2001 AT yahoo DOT com and give us your postal address as well as the charity or shelter which you'd like us to make your $25 donation!
ALSO!! Miss Karin, King Punapippuri's Aiti, was so very kind to make us a badge that you can display on your blog if you'd like to show that you participated in our contest! We'd be honored if you would take the badge!
We hope you all had fun - we know we had a blast!
P.S. Our mom is 'bandoning us until tomorrow, so she won't be able to get back with the winners until then.

Finally Friday - Last Day to Vote
Whew - we didn't think we'd get this post made today! We're glad it's the weekend (almost). We don't have a lot to say today - we just wanted to remind people that if they haven't voted for the best tummy, they need to do so today by midnight Central time! We'll do our best to announce our winners on Saturday!!!

A difference between girls and boys
**DISCLAIMER** I love my girl cats very much! I love the fact that they are independent. This was just meant to be a funny comparison between how my boy cats and my girl cats act towards me when I'm sick, hurt, or upset. Also, I was curious to whether or not you had the same experiences. In no way did I mean to imply that I resented my cats or expected them to be any other way. I'm sorry if I offend anyone with this post.
I was reading through some blog posts that I had gotten behind on, and something hit me. My girls are not compassionate at all. My boys were all about taking care of me if I was hurt or sad - they were glued to me. But not these girls. They just look at me like "you're so pathetic, I can't be bothered with you", and walk off.

Snuggles especially was my caretaker. The memory that stands out most in my mind was from when he was about 4 or 5 months old. I played ROUGH with him - I always had scratched up arms and bite marks all over my hands. Everyone that came over played rough with him. He was a monster. But one July afternoon, I had an unfortunate accident in organic chemistry lab. Well, I didn't have the accident, the stupid girl beside me did, but she threw her accident on me and another lady, and we both got a free trip to the ER with 2nd and 3rd degree burns on our arms and legs. We stunk to high heavens, because of course it was sulfuric acid she tossed. So when I finally made it home, arm bandaged up, clothes all holey, reeking, and hurting like h-e-l-l, I just crawled into bed. In marches Snuggles, and I panicked. But that little black ball of fur laid down beside my bed and stayed there the entire time I was laying down. When my then-boyfriend came to check on me, Snuggles wouldn't move. He was guarding me. Other times when I was sick or sad, he was always right there, letting me hug him and hold him tight, letting me cry into his fur or sneeze on him (it was an accident!). He was a Bad Cat in so many ways, but he was also very good. Zachary was almost as good.
P.S. One thing I learned from that particular chem lab that I will NEVER forget: Always add concentrated acid to water, not the other way around.

Thankful Tuesday
Wow - what a crazy few days this has been! You guys are awesome! The turnout for the contest was WAY more than we expected, and the votes are rolling in! We wanted to address some of the questions and problems that we've seen in the comments:
Now, back to some relaxation.
- Some versions of Internet Explorer may not show the slideshow.
- If you cannot see the slideshow, you can go to this link (click here) to see all of the photos.
- If you click on the slideshow, it will take you to the photo that was showing. To see the thumbnails of the entire album, click "View All" next to the photo number at the top left.
- To vote, go to this link (click here).
Now, back to some relaxation.
I swear, I don't know how anyone is able to vote - I've looked at these photos dozens of times, and they are all so cute! I crack up each time I watch it! It's impossible to pick a winner!!

Tummy Contest - The Entries!
Here are the entries in a slideshow! This is not how we intended to do this, but with so many entries, we did not see a better way to let everyone see all of the photos without having to scroll for days and days. After a few emails with King Punapippuri's Aiti (who has been a HUGE help), our mom also decided to use a Google form to handle the voting. This allows every blog one vote, keeps the votes anonymous (to help avoid hurt feelings), and also will make finding the winner easy with less of a chance of our mom making a mistake in not counting a vote or marking something wrong. So, without further ado, may we present... TUMMIES!
To view all of the photos instead of watching the slideshow, you should be able to click on the slideshow where it will take you to the Picasa album.
After you have chosen your favorite tummy, please go here and enter your vote. If you have any problems with any of this, please let us know and we'll do our best to help (or fix things if needed). If anyone has any questions they don't want to leave in comments, you can email our mom at janaras2001 AT yahoo DOT com.
Thank you everyone for making our first contest so huge!!
***VOTING WILL END ON FRIDAY, MAY 13TH, AT MIDNIGHT CENTRAL TIME***

Say What? Saturday
Holy Guacamole! When we were tossing around the idea of a tummy contest with the cats and Aiti over at Pikku Punapippuri, we thought it would be a fun contest, but we didn't know if that many friends would play. WOW! We've got somewhere around 70 entries! We've sent out a few messages to friends who wanted to enter but either didn't specify which photo to use (since there is a limit to 1 per fur-person) or we couldn't follow the links provided. But WOW! We are blown away! We've met a lot of new friends, so thank you all for advertising our contest, and thank you, new friends, for joining in! And of course, many thanks to our old friends for playing along, too! Gosh! We're just overwhelmed! We're brainstorming with our mom to find a good way to display that many photos so that it won't be a chore to our voters. We'll have something up Sunday, so get ready to be inundated by tummies!!!

Finally Friday
What a week it's been! We have made a TON of new friends - and they joined our contest! We haven't made it by to say 'HI' to everyone yet, but we promise we will! Today is the last day to enter our Tummy Contest! Just leave a comment at this post (click here) and tell us where to find your photo!
If you didn't have time to take a tummy shot this week, don't worry - just give us the link of a tummy shot from your archives!
On Sunday, we will be making a post with all of the photos entered. This means we will be taking your photo and showing it on our blog (with your name and blog appearing with it). If for some reason you do not want us to use your photo on our blog, let us know and we'll just put up a link to your post. We assure you, we have no ulterior motives for having your photos - we just think it will be easier for people to see all the photos in one post instead of having to click dozens of links. :)
Enjoy your weekend, Friends, and thank you all for making this week so much FUN for us!!!

Easy Like Sunday
This Sunday is so Easy, we didn't even get harassed by the flashy box! haha OK, that was kind of not true. Our mom just hasn't had time to take any pictures of us this week, which is totally ok with me. We're supposed to get more rain today. I was really counting on some open windows, since no one has been around much during the day to open them for us, and word on the street is she'll be home with us all day tomorrow. Rats. Just my luck. Oh well, rainy weather is good sleeping weather!
If you didn't hear (or see), we're hosting a Tummy Contest! Just leave us a message in the post from Friday (just below this one) with a link to the photo you want to enter in the contest. And we didn't make it very clear, but EVERY cat and dog is invited to join in. Heck, if the turtles, donkeys and goats want to enter, too, they can! There is no rule that you have to have a floofy belly to play! More floof does NOT make for a better tummy, no matter what a certain orange girl thinks. And she is not the boss. My tummy is delectable - so much so that I rarely show mine. And I certainly will not let ANYONE touch it. So anyway, I hope you shortsters will consider playing, just to show those floofy ones what a REALLY good tum looks like!
